What was the bold, persistent, or desperate prayer you prayed this past week?

Read Mark 6:1-6 and Luke 8:46
- Why do you think the people of Jesus’ hometown were so skeptical of him and his ability as the Messiah?
- In what ways are you skeptical of those you are familiar with?
- What does it mean when Jesus said he was amazed by their lack of faith? How does how you believe have an impact on Jesus?
- Look up the Greek word for “power” as it is used in the Luke verse. What does the translation describe it as?
- How does our faith, or lack thereof, affect the “power” of God? Do you believe your faith plays a role in his miracle-working?
Read John 5:1-9
- There were likely hundreds of people around this pool, but Jesus only healed one. How does this challenge you today?
- This man had been waiting by the pool for 38 years. The woman who touched Jesus’ robe and was healed was unwell for 12 years. Is there an area of your life that you feel like you have been waiting a long time to see change? Share with others if you’re willing.
- Why don’t we see miracles around us and in our own lives the same way that we see them in the Bible?

Jesus responds to those who have faith and believe. How much of God’s power is impacted by what we believe and our attitude toward it? Not everybody wants healing. Not everybody wants to get well. What do you want from God? In what ways are you reluctant to believe in God’s healing power? Jesus could not do miracles in Nazareth because they were overly familiar with him. This week, we were challenged by the idea that maybe the reason we don’t see miracles the way we see them in the Bible is because we are “living in Nazareth.” In what ways are we overly familiar with Jesus or dismissive of his ability to do miracles?
