What are Groups at Salty?

Groups at Salty are small gatherings where people meet regularly to build friendships, grow in their faith, and support each other through life. They’re a place where real conversations happen and real community is built. Groups meet in homes, coffee shops, at the beach, or other relaxed environments throughout our community.

Why should I join a Group?

Groups help us build meaningful relationships, apply what we’re learning, encourage each other through life, and grow spiritually together. God created us to be in community with one another, and if you’re looking to engage in community, you should join a group!

How do I find a Group that’s right for me?

You can explore available Groups by visiting salty.org/groups. You can also stop by the Welcome Counter after a service, and someone will help you find a Group that fits your schedule and interests.

How often do Groups meet?

Most Groups meet once a week, though some meet every other week, depending on the group. Each group decides what rhythm works best for them.

Where do Groups meet?

Groups meet in a variety of relaxed environments such as homes, coffee shops, restaurants, parks or the beach, or church spaces. The goal is simply to create a comfortable space for conversation and connection.

Are Groups organized by age, stage of life, or topic?

Some are. We offer a variety of Groups, including couples groups, men’s groups, women’s groups, topic or study-based groups, or hybrid groups with people from different backgrounds. You can choose the environment that feels most comfortable for you.

Can I join a Group if I’m new to Salty?

Absolutely. Groups are a great way to get connected and meet people, especially if you’re new to the church. You don’t need to know anyone before joining.

What happens at a typical Group gathering?

Every Group is a little different, but most gatherings include a time to connect and catch up, conversation around a Bible passage or message, and prayer and encouragement. Groups are usually relaxed and conversational, not formal or lecture-based.

Do I have to talk or participate every time?

No. You’re always welcome to participate at your own pace. Some people like to jump into conversation right away, while others prefer to listen at first. Both are completely okay.

What if I try a Group and it’s not the right fit?

That happens sometimes. Every Group has a unique dynamic, and it’s important to find a place where you feel comfortable. If a Group isn’t the right fit, we’ll help you find another one.

Can I join a Group at a different campus than the one I attend?

Yes. You’re welcome to join whichever Group works best for your schedule and location.

Are Groups offered online or only in person?

We have both online and in person groups. Choose the group that is right for you!

Do Groups run year-round or in seasons?

Many Groups run in seasons throughout the year, while others choose to continue meeting year-round. Seasonal groups make it easy for people to jump in and try a Group.

Is childcare available for Groups?

Childcare availability varies depending on the Group. Some Groups offer childcare, some rotate childcare between families, and others meet in family-friendly environments. You can check the Group description or ask the host for details.

How many people are usually in a Group?

Most Groups include 8–12 people, though some may be smaller or larger. The goal is to keep Groups small enough for meaningful conversation and connection.

What if I’ve never been part of a small group before?

That’s perfectly normal. Many people join their first Group at Salty with no previous experience. Groups are designed to be welcoming and easy to step into.

Can I bring a friend with me to a Group?

Absolutely. Groups are a great place to bring a friend who might be exploring faith or looking for community.

How do I become a Group leader?

At Salty, we call them Group Hosts. Hosts simply create a space where people can gather and have meaningful conversations. If you’re interested in hosting a Group, we’ll walk with you through the process.

What support or training do Group leaders receive?

Group Hosts receive simple training and guidance, discussion resources or study material, and ongoing support from the Groups team. You’re never expected to do it alone.

What should I expect on my first night at a Group?

Your first night will likely include meeting new people, casual conversation, a discussion based on a Bible passage or message, or prayer together. There’s no pressure to perform. Just come as you are. Most people leave their first Group thinking: “That was easier and more meaningful than I expected.”
