- What happened immediately before Jesus made the disciples get into the boat? What does this say about Jesus and what impact would this have had on the disciples?
- What did Jesus do after He dismissed the disciples? What does this teach us about Jesus and how should followers of Jesus today apply this in their lives?
Read Matthew 14:25-33
- What was the disciples’ initial reaction to Jesus’ appearance? Why did they respond this way and what does this say about people in general?
- What was Jesus’ 1 st response to the disciples in verse 27? How might these words to the frightened disciples help you right now in whatever “storm” you are facing?
- Why did Peter start to sink and what did he cry out? What does this show about his relationship with Jesus and how is it significant to people today?
- What did the disciples conclude and do after Peter and Jesus got back in the boat? Have you reached the same conclusion, and if not, what are you looking for Jesus to do?

Notes
Jesus knows all about the storms we are in. He cares for us and wants what is best for us. We often become frightened by the storm, and when we do, Jesus calls us to simply come to Him. The challenge is whether we are waiting for God to prove Himself before we obey. Peter showed humility and obedience as Jesus helped disciples grow their faith and learn to depend on Him in the midst of a storm. Who are you turning to for strength and direction in your storm?
