Navigating Grief

Message Notes

Look Back

Have you confessed Jesus as Lord and taken the step of baptism? Are you trying to follow him without fully saying yes?

Look Up

Read Psalm 34:17-18

  1. Do you believe this, in spite of the pain you have felt?
  2. In the grand scheme of things what does this mean?

Read Ecclesiastes 7:2

  1. Consider why mourning is wise and why it is important?
  2. Is this hard to hear? If so why?

Read Hebrews 9:27-28

  1. In light of the previous mentioned versus, what light does this shine in context of them?
  2. In light of death, pain and suffering, does the Hope of Jesus help you keep going? If not, why?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

What do you need in order to feel confidently prepared for Eternity? In Ecclesiastes it mentions the House of morning is better than that of feasting. Why? Because it’s a wake up call, it gets you in touch in a tangible way of reality. Many live their lives avoidant of death in a kind of trance. These verses remind us of the sobering reality we live in. Why is this important? Because one day you will pass away and Jesus will return…There is so much packed into that. Reality changes from that moment forward and we will all be a part of it regardless if we like it or not. This message is to encourage you that we have a hope and we should do everything we can to pursue it, to pursue Him.

Overview

Lead pastor Robbie uses this difficult occasion to address the universal experience of grief, grounding the conversation in the biblical story of John 11 where Jesus weeps for Lazarus (29:05-33:53), illustrating that God is present and compassionate during times of loss. The message features poignant pre-recorded reflections from Todd Fer himself, who shares his faith, his reliance on Jesus, and his hope that God would be glorified through his cancer journey (35:46-45:17).
