Look Back

What step did you take to open your mind to the truth that Jesus is alive and available to guide and transform you?

Look Up

Read John 3:13-18

  1. What word is repeated in this passage and why is it important?
  2. List different things Jesus asks His followers to believe in these verses.

Read Numbers 21:4-9

  1. What were the people focused on in verses 4-6?
  2. What were the people focused on in verse 7? Why was it important for them to change their focus before asking Moses to pray for them?
  3. What do you think was the “real” reason the people lived?

Read Acts 2:36-38

  1. What does it mean to “repent”?
  2. What role do recognizing “sin” and being “cut to the heart” play in when we repent?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

Where am I still trusting myself more than Jesus? What one act of faith to turn to Jesus will l take this week?

Notes

Belief says, “Jesus is God.” Repentance says, “Jesus is Lord” so I cannot stay on my old path. Faith turns toward Jesus. Repentance turns away from everything that competes with Him. Belief without repentance is empty agreement. Repentance without belief is self-improvement Salvation begins when I trust Jesus enough to turn toward Him. We have not really trusted Jesus until we are willing to put our life in His hands.
Overview

In this week's message from Salty Church's Essentials sermon series, Pastor Robbie digs into the outward steps of the Christian journey — what does it actually look like to live out your faith in the open? Anchored in Proverbs 3:5–6 ("Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding") and Acts 2, the message unpacks repentance and baptism as essential milestones on the path from here to eternity, explaining how baptism is far more than a ritual — it's a public declaration of faith, a death to the old life, and a resurrection into the new.
