Is Gear Essential?

Message Notes

Look Back

What do you need in order to feel confidently prepared for Eternity?

Look Up

Read Mathew 28:18-19

  1. Why is disciple making the center of the Churches Mission?
  2. Who is your One? Talk about them.
  3. Why does Jesus mention Father, Son, & Holy Spirit when it comes to Baptism?

Read Luke 15

  1. Where is your heart when you read these parables? Are you as excited for people as they are in these stories?
  2. How can you be more great commission focused? What's preventing you?
  3. What tools can help you reach your one better?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

Write the name of your one, pray for them. Are you 99 focused or 1 focused? Are you coming to church and following Jesus just for you? A consumer mindset, or do you have a mission mindset? Our focus can become so much out me and internal. Try to add the external part and live missionally. Who is your one! They matter to Jesus so they should matter to you. There is always a one.

Overview

Pastor Jacob Netherton exploring the core essentials of the Christian faith by using a basketball metaphor to illustrate that genuine spiritual growth is about internal development and active discipleship rather than external appearances (23:02 - 25:22). He emphasizes the Great Commission from Matthew 28:19—the mandate to "go make disciples"—and redefines it as a call for every believer to be present and helpful to those around them, rather than a specialized task (28:27 - 29:19).
