Week 8

Message Notes

Look Back

What opportunities did you take to practice sharing your story in a simple and brief way? How did people respond?

Look Up

Read Philippians 4:8-9

  1. In his closing letter to the Philippians, Paul encourages them to think about several specific things. What specifically does he include, and why does he focus on these things?
  2. What additional direction does Paul give followers of Jesus in verse 9? How can apprentices of Jesus today apply this in their lives?

Read Philippians 2:5-8

  1. How does Paul say we should be “like Christ” in verse 5? How do people typically become “like-minded” and how does this apply if someone wants to be like Christ?
  2. What does Paul say that Jesus did in verses 6-8 and what was His motivation for doing these things? What should motivate an apprentice of Jesus to do these things?

Read Philippians 3:12-14

  1. What message is Paul trying to send to the Philippians in verse 12? How should an apprentice of Jesus today apply this in their life?
  2. What words and concepts does Paul repeat in these verses? What significance do these have for people today who desire to be with, be like, and do as Jesus did?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

What is your relationship with Jesus right now? What is your next step and what are you going to do to be with, be like, and do as Jesus did?

Notes

I don't mean to say I am perfect. I haven't learned all I should even yet, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be. Philippians 3:12
