Week 3

Message Notes

Look Back

What did God reveal to you through Chp 2? What stood out?

Connect

Have you ever made a decision or purchase that turned out to be significantly more than what you expected? What happened?

Look Up

Read Ephesians 3:1-13

  1. What did it mean to be a Gentile back then? What does verse 6 mean in today’s world?
  2. According to v.10-11, What should the role of the church be? How should Christians today apply this?
  3. Summarize v.12-13 in your own words. After reading v.10-11, how should that influence how we apply it to our lives personally?

Read Ephesians 3:14-20

  1. What is the reason he is pointing back to in v 14?
  2. What is Paul praying for? What makes this significant?
  3. Why do you think Paul focuses on the future at the end of this section? What does this mean to the “church” today?
  4. In what ways has God shown up “far more abundant than you could ever hope for or imagine? “ in your life? (v20)

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

Not only did God save and redeem our lives, He gave us a charge to make Him known. The Church (we…) are God's plan A to make His love known. How are you personally doing that? Who in your life needs to hear about God's love? Take one step to sharing that with them this week. If you don't have anyone, find someone… Lost people are all around

Notes

God has crafted the book of Ephesians to build on itself. We start out with understanding who God is and who HE says we are in Chapter 1, chapter 2 is are we alive in Him and that He has created us for a purpose, and now in chapter 3 we see the charge to go out and do something with it. It's great to know God, to know how He has created us, but now that moves to action. We are the church. We are the ones to make Him known. Afterall, according to v12-13 and v20, what do we really have to lose? We worship an abundant God who can always do so much more than we can imagine. Leadership tip Ephesians 3:20 is a verse every believer should hold deep in their heart. In life its too easy to lose sight of such a powerful truth. Encourage your group to put it to memory this week. Have fun with it next week to see who can recite it without looking.
