Week 6

Message Notes

Look Back

How did you let Christ “in” your life and allow the Spirit of truth access to your mind?

Look Up

Read Romans 8:18-25

  1. How does Paul describe the situation he and his readers were experiencing? What does he remind his readers to focus on? What were they not to focus on, and why?
  2. How does Paul’s illustration of “groaning” as if in childbirth help you better understand the relationship between people and God? What does this reveal about people and God?
  3. What does Paul say should be the source of hope for those who follow Jesus Christ? How easy is this for you to accept and share with others?
  4. What does verse 24 say about when and why we were given hope? How does your level of confidence and hope compare to Paul’s?

Read Romans 8:26-28

  1. What does Paul reveal about God and God’s Holy Spirit in these verses?
  2. Based on these verses, what actions and attitudes are people responsible for? What should people expect in return?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

What have you been struggling with lately? What keeps you from surrendering to God and patiently allowing Him to work on your behalf?

Notes

Romans 8:24 We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don't need to hope for it. 25 But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.) NLT
