Week 5

Message Notes

Look Back

In what new ways are you actively representing Jesus as His ambassador?

Look Up

Read Isaiah 6:8 and Joshua 3:7

  1. How was the Lord's message to Joshua different from His question to Isaiah? Why do you think it was different?
  2. What specifically did the Lord want Joshua to do and know? What does this say about God?
  3. Given your current situation do you feel more like Isaiah or Joshua? What factors are influencing the way you view your situation?
  4. How would you prefer to hear God speak to you? What has shaped your thinking?

Read Joshua 3:9-17

  1. What did Joshua do? What does this say about him?
  2. What did the people do? What does this say about them?
  3. What did God do? What does this say about Him?
  4. How does this story apply to people today and to you personally?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

We don’t always see what God has been doing in our lives or how good He is until sometime in the future - when we look back. When 2024 comes around and you look back to 2023, what would you hope to have seen God do in your life?

Notes

With I’ll Go as our theme for 2023, we are making decisions before we know how it’s all going to work out. That’s what makes this a faith journey. Like Joshua and the Israelites, your step of faith means getting your feet wet before the water recedes - taking a step before you see God move. May you trust Him for your future, not only when things are good but in seasons of uncertainty, even when you can’t see what’s ahead.
