Week 3

Message Notes

Look Back

What did you do this week to grow in your love for God? Who did you let know they are loved by you and Jesus?

Look Up

Read Psalms 139:13-14, Romans 1:20 and Psalms 104:1-5

  1. What words do these verses use to describe God’s creation? Which word or words are most meaningful to you and why?
  2. What aspects of the world God created cause you to recognize and appreciate God’s eternal power and divine nature? How do you respond when you feel God’s majesty?
  3. How does the author of Psalm 104 respond and describe God’s eternal power and divine nature in creation? How might this impact how you see and praise God?

Read Colossians 1:15-20

  1. Colossians 1 talks about God’s creation of Jesus. How is this similar to, and different from, how and why God creates people in general?
  2. Try to put verses 19 and 20 into your own words. What truths from these verses are most meaningful to you, and how can you share them with others in your life?

Read Romans 6:3-6

  1. These verses teach us that the same God who created all things and knit us together in our mother’s wombs has the power to create a “new life” in each of us. How easy is it for you to accept and explain this to other people – what helps you or holds you back?
  2. What promises does God make in these verses? What does this say about God and His plan for the people He created?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

Have you accepted the truth that God made you and saves you from sin by uniting you with Jesus? If so, thank Him and share your story with others. If not, ask God to lead you into a new life of following Jesus and take a step of faith through baptism.

Notes

The complexity of God’s creation defies human understanding and explanation. As a result, it is often best to simply stand in awe and wonder of all God is and has done. While the creation of human life is an amazing event, the creation of a new eternal life in Jesus is even greater. The good news is that we get to play a role in creating our new life in Jesus - God wants us to be united with Jesus as His children and offers this freely to all.
