Message Notes
Look Back
In what ways were you intentional about making disciples in your life this past week?
Look Up
Read Ecclesiastes 1:2
- What does Solomon mean in Ecclesiastes when he uses the word “meaningless?”
- The Hebrew word for “meaningless” is “hevel.” Look up the definition for “hevel” and discuss what that word could mean in the context of this verse.
- How is Solomon’s view of his life similar to how you may view your life at times?
Read John 3:16-18, 1 John 3:1, and Psalms 139:13-16
- Many people use these verses as a foundation for their faith. What do these verses communicate about how we should view our lives?
- Why do we struggle with what these verses tell us about God’s love for us?
Read Proverbs 3:5-8
- When are you most likely to struggle with the truth that God loves you?
- Do you have examples from your own life when you trusted God when you weren’t sure of the outcome?
Overall (Discovery Bible Study)
- What do these scriptures say about God?
- What do they say about people?
- How will I apply this to my life?
Look Ahead
The truth is God has decided to love you. By all the other earthly measures we use to answer the question, “What’s the point?” we will never measure up. What are some “measuring sticks” you use to measure the purpose and value of your life? How can you replace some of those things with the truth?
Notes
God’s love for you is simple to know, but it is difficult to believe. Yet, isn’t it true that: No trophy you earn will increase God’s love for you. No sin you commit will decrease God’s love for you.
