Message Notes
Look Back
What did you do to pursue a deeper understanding of God’s promises as you step into 2025?
Look Up
Read Matthew 28:18-20
- How do these verses emphasize the importance of a “disciple-making culture?”
- What part of this command is hardest for you? Which part is the easiest?
- If your disciple has never made a disciple, have you really made a disciple? Think about someone you have discipled in your life. How does this question challenge you in your approach?
Read 2 Timothy 2:2
- What does Jesus mean when he commands us to “teach these truths to other trustworthy people?”
- What is a disciple of Jesus? What is an apprentice of that disciple?
- Ryan describes the “I see in you” approach to developing apprentices. Can you think of a person in your life who could put this into practice?
Read Luke 15:3-7
- In this parable, Jesus talks about the one lost sheep. Who is the “one lost sheep” in your life? Who is someone who are uniquely designed to share the gospel with?
Overall (Discovery Bible Study)
- What do these scriptures say about God?
- What do they say about people?
- How will I apply this to my life?
Look Ahead
How are you going to be intentional about making disciples in your life? Robbie used the three circles as an example of sharing the gospel with someone else. Can you practice retelling the gospel story using the three circles? (See Resources page)
Notes
Jesus said to go make disciples. Disciples, when they get together, do the “church” thing. But the point of church isn’t to check all the boxes or to even plant more churches. The point is to build a disciple-making culture that goes beyond addition and into multiplication. The point is to follow Jesus and help somebody else help somebody else follow Jesus, too.
