Trusting the Risen Jesus

Message Notes

Look Back

Who did you tell about Jesus this week?

Look Up

Read Luke 24:1-8 & Matthew 16:21

  1. What were the women expecting and what did they find?
  2. What did the men say that helped the women overcome their fear and astonishment?
  3. Why is it always important to examine and remember what Jesus said to His followers before drawing our own conclusions?

Read Luke 24:13-24

  1. What were the men feeling and focused on in these verses? What conclusions had they reached?

Read Luke 24:25-48

  1. Why did Jesus call the men “foolish” and “slow to believe”? What did He say and do to help them see things differently?
  2. Why does Jesus emphasize the things that had been written about Him in all the Scriptures?
  3. What is needed for people today to open their minds to understand the Scriptures?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

What step will you take to open your mind to the truth that Jesus is alive and available to guide and transform you?

Notes

If Jesus is alive, then he is not a dead mascot for your lifestyle – He is Lord. If Jesus is alive, then you don’t just admire Him – you obey Him. A dead Jesus can inform us – a risen Jesus can transform us. A dead Jesus gives us principles – a risen Jesus gives us power. A dead Jesus can be studied – a risen Jesus must be trusted.
Overview

A powerful, short worship moment emphasizing that because of Jesus' resurrection and the empty grave, we do not need to fear even when the earth gives way.
