Are You a Life Saving Station?

Message Notes

Look Back

What did you discover by reflecting on Jesus as “King” of your life and your identity as a part of the Kingdom of God?

Look Up

Read Matthew 28:18-19 and Acts 2:36-41

  1. Peter ends his 1st public teaching in Acts 2 by stating that God made Jesus both “Lord” and “Messiah”. What do these words mean to you? How do they describe aspects of Jesus and your relationship with Him?
  2. How do Peter’s words in Acts 2:38-41 reflect what Jesus said to him in Matthew 28? What does this say about Peter’s heart for people and desire to follow Jesus?
  3. What promises and warnings does Peter give in these verses? How easy is it for you to share this message of rescue with others? What helps you or holds you back?

Read Acts 2:42-47

  1. These verses describe what the first followers of Jesus did to empower and encourage each other. Why is it important for us to recognize they “devoted” themselves to these things?
  2. What does it mean to be “devoted to the apostle’s teaching” today? What is your current level of devotion to this?
  3. Why does the Bible teach us to dedicate time to “fellowship and breaking bread”? How has this helped you grow as a follower of Jesus?
  4. What does verse 47 say as a result of their efforts? How does this apply to you and your involvement with Salty Church?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

What part do you play in bringing hope to a broken world?

Notes

The first followers of Jesus had a simple approach to growing their faith and sharing the good news of Jesus with others. Their “playbook” was to gather around Jesus, share life together and support each other in carrying the mission of Jesus forward. This world is broken. But there is hope. His name is Jesus. His Gospel has not changed. His mission has not changed. He came to rescue people. Everyone has a role to play in the rescue mission of Jesus by bringing hope to a broken world.
