Week 6

Message Notes

Look Back

What did you do to develop a plan of reading scripture daily, and who did you talk to about what you have been learning?

Look Up

Read Isaiah 55:6-7

  1. How many different things do these verses suggest that people do? Which of these do you think is most difficult for people to do? Why?
  2. What do these verses say will be God's response to people who do these things? Why do you think God responds this way? Have you ever personally experienced God's grace and mercy?

Read Isaiah 55:8-9

  1. What do these verses say about God? How would you explain this to someone who has just started to seek to understand God?
  2. Do these verses give you hope or frustrate you personally? Why?

Read Isaiah 55:10-11

  1. What does this illustration say about God? How does it help you better understand God and the importance of studying His word?
  2. What do you think is the purpose of God sending out His word? What difference does this make in the things you think about and do daily?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • .
  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

In what ways are you "stuck" in unhealthy habits? What will you do differently to renew your mind?

Notes

God wants to transform our minds, but we tend not to let him. We trust our feelings instead of God's word and thoughts. Isaiah tells us that all we really need to do is turn to God to receive mercy and a new direction. If you choose to reject God, he allows it - He will not force you into heaven. God promises to transform us with His word doing the work. He is capable of renewing our mind and creating new pathways that are in alignment with His.
