Week 2

Message Notes

Look Back

What steps did you take to find or share freedom from the power of sin in Jesus Christ?

Look Up

Read Hebrews 9:1-10 and Mark 15:33-39

  1. What were the “1st” covenant and the “regulations”? What do these verses tell you about the “Ark” of the Covenant? What else does the Ark represent?
  2. What do these verses say was the purpose of the “regulations” and the curtain at the entrance to the Most Holy Place? Why do you think that access to the Most Holy Place was restricted?
  3. Do you think these “regulations” made it easier or more difficult for the Jews to worship God? Why?
  4. What was the crowd expecting to happen in the passage from Mark? What actually happened and how is this significant?

Read Hebrews 10:19-25 and John 14:6-7

  1. How would you explain Hebrews 10:19-20 to someone who currently does not believe in Jesus Christ?
  2. What are some of the things the author tells people who do believe in Jesus Christ to do in verses 22-25? Which of these is most challenging for you to personally understand and apply daily?

Read Compare John 14:6-7 to the passages from Hebrews. What insight does this give you into the way we should approach and worship God?

  1. What does John 14:7 tell you about God? How can you apply this truth?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

How often are you hesitant to approach God in worship and prayer? What does your conversation with God need to be? Group

Notes

Jesus' death provides everyone with personal access to God the Father, and gives us freedom to live confidently in showing love and encouragement to others. Take time this week to discuss ways that you can encourage and motivate each other to acts of love and good works.
