Week 2

Message Notes

Look Back

What new insights did you gain as you reflected on the biblical accounts of Jesus’ final days? How will you apply these in your daily life?

Connect

What is the most “unbelievable”, or spectacular thing you have personally witnessed?

Look Up

Read Matthew 28:1-10 and Mark 16:1-11

  1. How do these verses describe the reaction of the women at the empty tomb? Why do you think they felt this way?
  2. What are the two action steps the Angel gives in v6 and 7? How do they still apply today?
  3. What details included in the Matthew passage make the events more “believable”? Why do you think Mark does not mention this?
  4. Why do you think Jesus appeared 1st to Mary Magdalene? How did the other disciples respond to her? Why?

Read Luke 24:1-12

  1. What details does Luke add to the account at the tomb? How does putting all three accounts of the resurrection together impact your understanding?
  2. What about the resurrection makes it difficult for some to believe and accept? Are there things about the resurrection you struggle to accept or understand?
  3. What are the implications of the resurrection for other areas of life for those who believe?

Overall (Discovery Bible Study)

  • What do these scriptures say about God?
  • What do they say about people?
  • How will I apply this to my life?

Look Ahead

How does belief in the resurrection lead to hope? Where do you need to apply that resurrection Power in your own life?

Notes

The story of the resurrection has enormous implications for our lives when you come to truly believe and accept what really took place. Of course the hope we have as followers and what it means when we pass from life, but even beyond that the impact of the resurrection is so much further reaching. God gave us multiple perspectives over what actually happened as to paint a picture. Multiple perspectives over the same powerful moment. As Easter Sunday is in our rear view mirror, how can you keep the Spirit of resurrection alive daily and live off the hope we have. Leadership tip Who's next… Who in your group reflects leadership qualities? Over the next couple of months take opportunities to allow others to lead. Encourage and coach them in the process. Lets think generationally about our discipleship and what it means to raise others up.
